Flams and drags are rudiments that add texture, weight, and expression to your playing. They are often used to make grooves and fills sound bigger, more dynamic, and more musical. A flam is made by playing a quiet grace note just before a louder main note. The two notes should be very close together, almost like one thicker, wider stroke.
